CBUC employs some of Canada's elite umpires as instructors. Combined, our core staff has over 3000 games across all levels of Minor League Baseball, including seven all star game selections and ten league championship series assignments, in addition to 14 MLB Spring Training games worked and two Dominican Republic Winter League Assignments.

 

Furthermore, CBUC actively employs guest MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL umpires to assist at our programs. These MLB umpires are always invaluable training asset to all our students.

Our staff will ensure every participant leaves with a better understanding of the Official Baseball Rules and subsequent interpretations, as well as the two, three and four-umpire systems.

Steven Jaschinski

Minor League Baseball: A+

Attended the MiLB Umpire training Academy in 2017 and will be returning this year as an instructor. Has worked in the Gulf Coast League, Northwest League, and the Midwest League. Steven was selected to work the Northwest League and Midwest League Championship Series, as well as the 2018 Midwest League All-Star Game. 

Chris Graham

Minor League Baseball: AAA

Attended the Wendelstedt Umpire School in 2007 & 2014 and currently returns as an instructor. Has worked in the New York-Penn League, Midwest League, South Atlantic League, California League, Florida State League, Carolina League, Southern League, Eastern League, and International League. Chris has been selected to work the NYPL (twice), CAL, and EL Championship Series, while also working the NYPL (twice) and SAL All-Star games. Chris has also worked five MLB spring training games during the 2017 Grapefruit League season. Chris will spend part of this offseason woking in the Dominican Republic Winter League.

Scott Costello

Minor League Baseball: AAA

Attended the MiLB Umpire Training Academy in 2012, and while there, received recognition for his high rules test scores. Has worked in the Gulf Coast League, New York-Penn League, South Atlantic League, Florida State League, Texas League, Arizona Instructional League, Eastern League, and International League. Worked the 2014 FSL Championship Series, as well as the 2016 EL All-Star game. Scott has also worked one MLB spring training game during the 2017 Grapefruit League season. Scott will spend part of this offseason woking in the Dominican Republic Winter League.

Takahito Matsuda

Minor League Baseball: AA

The native of Ehime, Japan currently works in the Eastern League (AA). Matsuda attended the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring in 2012 and previously worked in the Gulf Coast League, Appalachian League, South Atlantic League, and California League. Taka has been selected to work the Appalachian League and South Atlantic League Championship Series. From 2011-2018, Matsuda also worked in the Australian Baseball league during the winter.

Chris Marco

Minor League Baseball: AA

Attended the MiLB Umpire Training Academy in 2014 and was named the "Top Rules Student" of his class. Has worked in the Gulf Coast League, New York-Penn League, Midwest League, Florida Instructional League, Carolina League, and Eastern League. Chris was selected to work Championship Series in the NYPL, MWL, and CAR, while also working the 2014 NYPL All-Star Game. Chris also worked the annual exhibiton game between the Torono Blue Jays and Canadian National Junior Team during 2017 MLB Spring Training.

Ben Rosen

Minor League Baseball: A

Attended the MiLB Umpire Training Academy in 2016 and was named the "Top Rules Student" of his class. Has worked in the Gulf Coast League, New York-Penn League and the Midwest League. Ben was selected to work the 2017 NYPL All-Star Game

Lisa Turbitt

Baseball Canada Level 5/Master Course Conductor

Umpired at 10 Baseball Canada National Championships and five international tournaments. She has also been a supervisor at ten National Championships and two international events. Lisa is a part of the Baseball Canada Grass Roots Umpire Development Committee and has been a member of the Baseball Ontario Umpires  Committee for over 20 years. Turbitt was the recipient of the Baseball Canada Dick Willis Umpire of the Year Award in 2004. Lisa was named to the WBSC Umpiring Commission in 2015.

Mike Boulianne

Minor League Baseball: Retired Short-Season A

Attended the Umpire Academy in 2015 and received the "Hustle Award". Worked the GCL in 2015 and the New-York Penn in 2016. He was also part of the 2016 Baseball Canada Senior Men Championship in Fredericton where he worked the Gold Medal Game. Worked in the Can-Am League in 2017.

Ray Brownlie

Equipment/Uniform Specialist

Ray is a Baseball Canada National Level umpire, and is the owner/operator of UmpLife Custom Products. Through UmpLife, Ray services umpires from Little League Baseball all the way up to Major League Baseball, with his custom designed products.
